There are a lot of people that are really skeptical that planning a menu will really save you money. I have found that with a only a little effort menu planning has the ability to yield a huge return. Here are a few of my top reasons to menu plan:
- Menu planning saves you money because when you choose to menu plan, you will use the food you already have on hand to incorporate into your meals. This will keep costs lower at the grocery store.
- Menu planning will save you money because you will plan to use your food before it expires. No more throwing away that meat or cheese because it was way past its expiration date.
- Menu planning saves you money because you have a plan and will not need to run through the fast food lane in order to feed your family.
- Along with all of the above, menu planning is healthier. You can prepare better and more wholesome meals at home for your family than you can eating out three to five times a week.
If that isn’t enough to convince you, planning a weekly menu will also save you time. When your list is written there is only a need to shop once. No more emergency runs at 5 p.m. to pick up the missing ingredient that you need to complete your meal.
With a plan you know exactly what to purchase at the grocery store – no more throwing random items into your cart and hoping you can make a meal out of them!
This also keeps the stress level down as well. I am not worried and rushing through trying to fix dinner for my family. I have a plan, I put that plan in action during the day and, when 5 o’clock rolls around, we are ready to eat a delicious meal and I can actually enjoy it with my family rather than be exhausted because I spent 2 hours trying to come up with something edible!
