  2. Darlene Stogsdill says:

    5 to 6lb. roast
2 packets Good Seasons Italian dressing
1 small jar roasted red peppers (Slice into strips)
1 large jar of Banana peppers or peporcini peppers rings.

1 lb sliced baby swiss cheese
2 loaves of Kroger epi italian bread.

Put the roast in crock pot. Dump the packets of dressing on roast. Then dump the peppers and the contents of juices from jar onto the roast. Cook on low in the crock pot all night with a sheet pan under crock pot or if you desire, put it on early in morning for a late dinner. It will be best around 12 hours or more. Slice bread longwise and put in oven on 400 till toasty and crisp…put pulled pieces of roast on bread with pepper pieces and cover with cheese…put back in oven till cheese is melted. If you dont like spicy you can be careful not to dump seeds into crock pot while pouring peppers in. Once the cheese and bread are together with roast it doesnt tast near as hot and spicy as when you just cant wait for the sandwich and you take a bit. This is delicious and so very easy! And it serves alot. I put the rest in the refrig overnight and take off fat that hardens on top then put a few bags or containers of roast in freezer. It will give you quite a bit to eat on over several meals. They go great with pasta dishes as a side. Enjoy!

I love making swiss steak in the crockpot – the meat is soooo tender!

Take a pkg of stew meat and coat with flour, salt & pepper. Brown this in a frying pan w/ a little oil. Put meat, green peppers, onions and tomato sauce to cover and whatever spices you would like and cook on low 6-8 hours. Serve over egg noodles or rice. Mmmmmm!

I love to cook roast in a slow cooker! Here is the recipe I use:

1 boneless chuck pot roast, about 3 pounds
steak seasoning blend or seasoned salt and pepper
    1 medium onion, sliced
    8 ounces sliced mushrooms
1 can condensed French onion soup, undiluted
    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    2 tablespoons ketchup
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes

Rub the roast all over with the seasoning blend or salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the roast on all sides, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Transfer the roast to the crockery insert of the slow cooker.

In the same skillet, saute the onion and mushrooms over medium heat until the onions are lightly browned. Add the soup, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and diced tomatoes and bring to a boil. Pour over the roast in the slow cooker.

Cook on HIGH for 1 hour. Turn to LOW and continue cooking for 7 to 8 hours.

I love this slow cooker recipe for Jambalaya:

•3 pounds Whole Chicken, Cut Up
•1 can (14.5 Ounce Can) Diced Tomatoes
•1 can (14.5 Ounce Can) Chicken Broth
•1 whole Green Bell Pepper, Chopped
    •¼ cups Hot Sauce
    •2 cloves Garlic Chopped
•2 teaspoons Old Bay Seafood Seasoning
    •1-½ teaspoon Dried Oregano Leaves
    •¾ teaspoons Salt
    •½ teaspoons Black Pepper
    •1 cup Uncooked Regular Rice
•1 pound Shrimp, Peeled And Deveined

Combine chicken, tomatoes, chicken broth, green pepper, hot sauce, garlic, seafood seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper in your slow cooker. Cook on low for 5 hours.

Stir and remove the chicken bones if you’d like (shredding the chicken in the process). Stir in the rice and cook on low for about 1 1/2 hours or until all the liquid is absorbed and rice is cooked.

Turn slow cooker to high and add the shrimp. Cook for 1/2 hour or until shrimp turn pink. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup French Fried Onions when all done

  20. Honestly, I don’t have any great recipes because I’ve never used a slow cooker before! I would definitely love to have one though– I hear they are awesome!!

Okay, I love roast in the crockpot, but I see lots of recipes for that here. Soooo, I also like tossing a whole chicken in the crockpot and it’s perfect by dinnertime. Also, my mom puts pintos in the crockpot and they are great after a day of slow cooking (she doesn’t soak or anything and they’re still wonderful)
