2 Hour Challenge – Getting Things in Order!

We spent the weekend with family – my husband, Dad, and brothers went camping while we girls stayed to get some shopping done.   So, since we spent our time together in the stores rather than at home cleaning, I have quite a bit that I need to get done around my house later this afternoon.    Here is what I hope to accomplish:

  • Load dishwasher.
  • Put away groceries (tell me I am not the only one who leaves non-perishable items out overnight!)
  • Put away Laundry & Hang Clothes
  • Straight Living Room & Bedroom
  • Change sheets on our bed and guest bed
  • Prepare & Clean up after dinner
  • Hang new candleholders

We are also headed out shoe shopping for my husband some new work shoes.  I need to get in some work online this evening as well so things are going to be busy, busy in our house tonight!

What are you working on tonight?  Any plans?  ;)

Updated Two Hour Challenge ~ June 2, 2010

Updated:  Well, I did it!  Or, well…most of it!    I also decided to tidy up our bedroom, the guest room, and make a pile of all the coupons that need clipping.  Wooh, I’m tired now.   Now I get to sit down to fold clothes and clip coupons this afternoon.  But at least it’s in a nice and clean house!  :)

Since we had an extra long weekend you would think my house would be spotless.  Eh, not so much.  ;)   I spent time watching movies, playing games, shopping, visiting friends, and just relaxing with my hubby this past weekend.  We had a great time together!    Yesterday I was gone all day so today is the first day I’ve had at home to really get to cleaning up this messy house.

I came up with the Two Hour Challenge some months back because…well, I am a procrastinator.   I obviously know when the house needs cleaning, and I will clean it but only here and there in small amounts at a time.    So, I started making a list of things that needed to be done, setting my timer for 2 hours, and I work until the timer goes off.  After that, if I haven’t finished, I take a break.  If I have finished, it feels really, really nice!  ;)

So, here is what is on the agenda for today…

:: The Kitchen – wash dishes, sweep floor

:: Laundry – separate, wash, fold and put away

:: Straighten Desk and Kitchen Table

:: Tidy up Living Room

:: Finish Organizing Stockpile

:: Start Butterhorn Dough and let Rise – Decided to wait on these

Not a ton of stuff to do, but more than enough to keep be occupied for 2 hours or more.  :)      I’ll be back to report on my progress later.

What can you accomplish in two hours?

2 Hour Challenge Update…

I knew going into today’s cleaning challenge that it was going to be tough to complete my list in the two hours time.  It ended up taking me about two hours and forty minutes.
Here is what I accomplished:

Put Roast in the Slow cooker for dinner – It’s almost ready to be shredded for BBQ!
Laundry
Clean Bathroom
Straighten up and dust living room
Vacuum all floors
Make an Apple Pie and Waffles for the Freezer
I ended up making a double batch of waffles so it took a little longer
Make bed and tidy up our bedroom
Wash Dishes, sweep and mop kitchen
Fold Laundry – I still have a load in the dryer and washer and I haven’t folded a single thing.

I did manage to get a lot done today and our house looks great!  I started getting tired towards the end and decided to take a break for lunch and some quick posts before finishing the laundry off.  :)

2 Hour Challange…

http://reneesproperties.com/bigstockphoto_Cleaning_Supplies_946197_800x552.jpg

I am a person who likes a challenge.  If I’m not up against a time clock, I tend to work slower with more breaks.  So, I came up with my Two Hour Challenge a few months ago and it has worked really well for me!
Today is my first day at home since last Wednesday — needless to say my house isn’t in the best shape!  I have a lot of things that need to get done today and I am wanting to see how much of it I can get done in 2 hours.  Like my last 2 Hour Challange, I’ll report back in after the two hours are up to let you know how I have done.
Here is my list for today…
  • Put Roast in the Slow cooker for dinner
  • Laundry
  • Clean Bathroom
  • Straighten up and dust living room
  • Vacuum all floors
  • Make an Apple Pie & Waffles for the Freezer
  • Make bed and tidy up our bedroom
  • Wash Dishes, sweep and mop kitchen
  • Fold Laundry

I know that is a lot to get done in two hours, but I think I can do it — or hit pretty close to it!   I have a few more things I need to get to today, but I’m going to focus on my main goal of just getting the house clean.

What are some things ya’ll challenge yourselves with to keep your house tidy?
